How to use
- 01
Measure the rectangular tabletop width and length, then choose the drop you want on every side.
- 02
Add hem allowance to every edge and enter the usable fabric width. Table width is placed across the fabric roll.
- 03
If the cut width does not fit, choose wider fabric or explicitly allow joined strips. Check the number of strips and last strip width.
The calculation
Cut width = table width + 2 × drop + 2 × hem. Cut length = table length + 2 × drop + 2 × hem. For joined strips, n = round up [(cut width − 2 × joining allowance) ÷ (fabric width − 2 × joining allowance)]. Total fabric length = n × cut length.
An 80 × 140 cm tabletop with a 20 cm drop and 2 cm hems needs one 124 × 184 cm cut. It fits across 140 cm fabric and uses 1.84 m. If the table width is 180 cm, the 224 cm cut width needs two strips; with 1.5 cm joining allowances the final strip is 87 cm wide and the fabric length is 3.68 m.
Before you buy
The estimate uses full-width strips followed by one narrower strip, joined along their long edges. It does not center seams, rotate the layout, match prints or account for shrinkage. Round, oval and fitted tablecloths require a different pattern.
